Globally, the number of mergers and acquisitions in the media sector increased by almost a third in 2021. The total value, marked by some mega-mergers, increased by 127 % compared to the previous year. At the same time, the average volume of the deals also changed - it doubled. This picture reflects the dynamics in the industry and shows the profound challenges facing the media industry worldwide. The battle for content, control and consumer information will continue to drive the search for new strategies and competitive models over the next 12 months.
