BDO advised Novartis on the sale of a chemical production facility located in the Basel area, Switzerland. With Syngenta Crop Protection, a highly reputable buyer has been found that will manufacture agrochemical active ingredients at the Muttenz/Switzerland plant in the future.
A BDO team led by Hartmut Paulus (Head of BDO Corporate Finance Germany) and Oliver Bach (Corporate Finance/M&A, Frankfurt) advised Novartis on the sale of a chemical production plant to Syngenta Crop Protection AG ("Syngenta").
Over the last 20 years, Novartis has been producing active pharmaceutical ingredients at one of its group-wide largest chemical production plants. The Muttenz/Schweizerhalle site is located on the biggest independent industrial park in Switzerland - InfraPark Baselland AG - and has excellent infrastructure and logistics links.
Syngenta, one of the world’s leading agriculture companies and provider of innovative crop solutions, will take over the plant with its highly flexible and multifunctional production facilities. In the future, Syngenta will manufacture innovative active ingredients and intermediates for crop protection products in the acquired plant.
