BDO advises Octopus Energy Generation on the acquisition of Berlin-based metering scale-up metiundo
The Transaction Tax Team at BDO AG Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft, led by Dr Michael Brauer, advised its long-standing client, Octopus Energy Generation — one of the leading investors in renewable energy and green infrastructure — on the tax structuring of its acquisition of metiundo GmbH, a Berlin-based metering scale-up.
Founded at the end of 2021, metiundo GmbH is a metering provider that specialises in digitising measurement infrastructure for all energy types and water in buildings. It provides a comprehensive range of metering system services from a single source and employs around 70 people across its offices in Berlin and Heidelberg.
Through its funds under management, Octopus Energy Generation has invested €40 million in metiundo GmbH, in a move to accelerate Germany's transition to a smarter, tech-enabled energy system powered by renewables.
